Khanssa Lagdami is an experienced educator and advisor in maritime law and policy. She is the ITF Seafarers Trust associate professor of maritime labour law and policy at the World Maritime University, established by the International Maritime Organisation. Dr. Lagdami is also the academic coordinator of the Maritime Welfare (Mari-Wel) program at WMU, a professional development program that delivers a comprehensive overview of topics and issues related to seafarers' welfare, bringing together world-leading experts on seafarer rights, maritime regulations, and welfare issues.
Dr. Lagdami strengths lie in maritime labour law, human rights at sea, maritime security, and the future of work in the maritime sector. Her research and academic interests involve projects creation, projects management, capacity building, and training. Dr Lagdami is a lead member in significant research and capacity-building projects at World Maritime University.
Dr. Khanssa Lagdami earned her doctorate in maritime law from University of Nantes in France. Her multidisciplinary profile also holds a M.Sc. in maritime affairs management and a LL.M in international comparative law from University of Perpignan in France.
